The British Police arrested a man yesterday and when he was ask "Where Were You Between 5 and 11"
and the man said PRIMARY SCHOOL

The man wasn't totally at fault. The Officer should have specified, time or age.

Sincerlyyours and Alexandra.....Seem like dem a pea in a pod. Dem MAD alike it seem. when the police here in the UK arrest you they alway tell you why/what they are holding you for. so if a 40 something yrs old man get arrested some days ago, ask by the police where he were between 5 and 11, did that man really believe the police mean when he was between 5 to 11 years old.
I am almost sure he was whining up the police man, as maybe he did not want to say where he was between 5 and 11 that day.

This may be a joke, but this also shows that as individuals we process information in different ways. This is one reason, especially in this case, where specifics were neccessary.
I believe police officers are taught to be specific in order to avoid confusion. Therefore, the question might have been better understood by this individual if it was worded like:
Where were you between the hours of 5pm and 11pm?
